Declan Banko (Deco)
Songwriter, Front Man, Multi-Instrumentalist
1st generation Irish American Declan Banko was brought up in Hornell, NY and Roscommon, Ireland. Deco began writing and performing on both sides of the pond in 2011, and by 2018 dusting the roof off bars as far as Waiheke Island, New Zealand. In 2017 Deco formed The Dusters who are now based out of Canandaigua and Naples, NY with the strong identity of "Fingerlakes Roots Band". The Dusters are a super group cut from the rawest forms of Americana, Rock n' Roll and Irish Folk.
Deco's vocals transport you from western honky-tonk saloons to Galway pubs on a mighty session, with old-school baritones, yodeling, and an Irish rasp. Primary instruments include Acoustic Guitar, Banjo and Harmonica. Has also been known to play a slew of instruments such as Piano, Bouzouki, Didgeridoo, and Irish Tin Whistle.
Deco's lyrics range from transcendental and psychedelic to deep story telling with culture and connection to the human soul, all while staying catchy. Having drawn inspiration from outlandish life experiences such as driving across the states at age 19 to busk in major cities, or moving to New Zealand then circumnavigating back through the Himalayas. Deco has lived the life of a troubadour with quick feet, now at age 29 having performed in 11 states and 7 countrys.
What is that sound?
